I am mainly interested in philosophy of science,  epistemology, metaphysics, and metaphilosophy. I have been working on scientific change (including conceptual change and theory choice), scientific progress, scientific explanation, scientific knowledge, methodology of social science, causation, and philosophical progress.
Currently, I am working on my BA-funded project 'The Metaphysical Foundations of Evidential Pluralism' (2020-2022). I am writing a monograph on proximate and ultimate causation in biology (under contract with CUP).
With Jon Williamson, I am working on the Leverhulme-funded project 'Evidential Pluralism in the Social Sciences' (2019-2022). We are working on a monograph (under contract with Routledge) and a number of research articles.
In addition, Greg Radick, Charles Pence, and I are working on a scholarly edition of Weldon's Theory of Inheritance.
Moreover, I am writing a monograph on the social nature of scientific knowledge (under contract with CUP) and editing two volumes, Alternative Approaches to Causation: Beyond Difference-making and mechanism (under contract with OUP) and Philosophical Foundations of Mixed Methods Research (under contract with Routledge).
